  • 2. Hearing System
  • 3. Our ability to hear is an amazing interaction of several sensitive and complex organs.
  • 4. As the sound enters the ear canal, it travels into the middle ear where it contacts the eardrum.
  • 5. You should take great care to protect the eardrum since it is the primary line of defense against damage to the inner ear.
  • 6. Sometimes the eardrum can become ruptured from loud noises, pressure or an accident.
  • 7. The sound is then transferred to the inner ear which features a very complex and sensitive organ called the cochlea.
  • 8. The cochlea is especially sensitive as the sounds are converted by tiny hairs within the organ.
  • 9. The best thing you can do to avoid hearing loss is to protect your hearing.
