  • 2. Definition Gender role is defined as the expectation of how men and women should behave in society.
  • 3. Today’s society In today’s society, gender roles are best represented in Commercials. They are such a huge factor in persuading different genders to buy the companies product.
  • 4. Gender Roles  Our society still has a stereotypical belief of gender roles. The men should work while women stays home to clean and cook. However, it is more socially accepted now for women to have a job and be more independent; though in general we associate men being bread winners.

  • 7. Bounty Commercials
  • 8. Bounty Commercial  In this bounty commercial we see the role of a women using the product (Bounty); while her husband looks completely lost on how to use it. In almost every Bounty commercial, you will see a women using paper towels and not a man. This is because of gender roles; we associate women belonging in the house while men are out working.
  • 9. Keystone
  • 10. Keystone  Keystone commercials are notorious for their roles played by a man named “Keith Stone”; for always being “smooth”. However, in most typical beer commercials, we see a man playing the role; this is because we associate beer with men.
  • 11. Gender Roles  Next time you are watching TV make sure to watch the commercials. I guarantee you will see specific gender roles.
