  • 1. OCD In CSI New York Season 5 Episode 15
  • 2. PSYCHOLOGY BASIS OCD (Obsessive compulsive disorder) • Is an anxiety disorder characterized by intrusive thoughts • There is the Obsession, which are irrational thoughts • And then there is the Compulsion, which is a ritualistic action • Repetitive hand-washing is a common OCD symptom.
  • 3. MEDIA CSI NY Season 5 Episode 15 • Adam talks to Jake and tells him about OCD • They found evidence of eye lashes on his dead father which was Jakes obsession of pulling his eye lashes • His other obsession is unplugging things • Adam tells Jake that he can’t help it and that its all in his brain and it’s playing tricks on him • He also tells him that some of OCD is science
  • 4. THE CONNECTION The connection from OCD and this media piece, is that it somewhat describes about OCD and some of the symptoms. It also talks about rituals, things you do to help with the symptoms. The symptoms described in this episode are as follows: • Repetitive washing • Unplugging things • Pulling of hair/eyelashes • Counting These are just some of the symptoms that are known to psychologists, there are many more but in this episode that’s all they use to describe some of the symptoms/rituals.
