Language Skills

 1. 1. How to study and improve in a language
 2. 2.

When studying a language, you must actually want to learn it. This takes time and dedication. Studying and revising what you have learnt in class is the most important aspect in mastering a foreign dialect.

 3. 3.

The best way to learn new words and phrases is to take a blank piece of paper (landscape) and fold it into 6 or 8 sections. Write the new words in the far section on your paper and then write the English translation/meaning in the next column. Fold the left section down, so you cannot see the new words. Then in the next column along, write the new words in your language. Repeat until you run out of columns.

 4. 4.

This technique is very effective in learning new words and phrases. It helps you learn the words both ways, translating from your language to English, and back. It is a great way to study for upcoming tests.

 5. 5.

Rereading through previous worksheets out loud helps you develop your speaking skills and allows you to speak with more flow. Developing your speaking skills gives you more confidence when learning your language.

 6. 6. Overall, the best ways to improve are

To revise after every lesson

Re read worksheets out loud

Use the ‘fold and write’ technique

Write down new words as soon as you encounter them

Take the time to study each lessons work to make sure you remember

To want to learn!
