  1. 1. BY T.PRUDHVI RAJ
  2. 2. CONTENT  INTRODUCTION  INVENTED BY  BASED ON  MERMER  INSTRUMENT  HOW IT WORKS  APPLICATIONS  CONCLUSION B R A I N F I N G E R P R I N T I N G
  3. 3. INTRODUCTION  Brain Fingerprinting technique used to determine scientifically what information is, or is not stored in a particular brain.  Not a measure of guilt or innocence.  Measures the response to visual or audio stimulus. B R A I N F I N G E R P R I N T I N G
  4. 4. INVENTED BY  Invented By Dr Lawrence A. Farwell. president of human brain research and laboratory , USA • It’s a patented technique of proven accuracy in US government tests. • Ruled Admissible in one US Court as scientific evidence. • It has a record of 100% Accuracy. B R A I N F I N G E R P R I N T I N G
  5. 5. BASED ON Brain Fingerprinting method is based on an electric signal which is known as MERMER . B R A I N F I N G E R P R I N T I N G
  6. 6. MERMER("Memory and Encoding Related Multifaceted Electroencephalographic Response") • A MERMER is an electrical signal which is a part of the brainwave observed in response to familiar information. • When the brain recognizes something, then there is increase in neurons activity, so elicit some changes in brain wave signals B R A I N F I N G E R P R I N T I N G
  7. 7. INSTRUMENTS • personal computer • a data acquisition board • a graphics card for driving two monitors from one PC • a four-channel EEG amplifier system • software developed by the Brain Fingerprinting lab. B R A I N F I N G E R P R I N T I N G
  8. 8. HOW IT WORKS ?  On seeing a previously known information, a specific measurable brain response known as a P300 or MERMER i.e. Memory and Encoding Related Multifaceted Electroencephalographic Response, is elicited by the brain of a subject A sequence of words, phrases, or pictures is presented on a video monitor to the subject, wearing a special headband designed for detecting the brain wave responses. B R A I N F I N G E R P R I N T I N G
  9. 9. CONTINUE… HEADSET B R A I N F I N G E R P R I N T I N G
  10. 10. B R A I N F I N G E R P R I N T I N G
  11. 11. CONTINUE… Actually when brain recognizes something then there is some changes in the neurons activity ,due to which there is changes in brainwave signals .On the basis of these changes in brain wave signals scientists determine that a particular information is present in the subject mind or not B R A I N F I N G E R P R I N T I N G
  12. 12. CONTINUE…. • The entire Brain Fingerprinting system is under computer control, including presentation of the stimuli, recording of electrical brain activity, a mathematical data analysis algorithm that compares the responses of stimuli and produces a determination of "information absent“. B R A I N F I N G E R P R I N T I N G
  13. 13. APPLICATIONS… • There are several other areas in which Brain fingerprinting can be used to make life easier and can aid mankind in many ways. Key fields where brain fingerprinting can be used are:  National security  Medical diagnosis -Alzheimer’s disease  Advertising B R A I N F I N G E R P R I N T I N G
  14. 14. National security  Identify terrorists and accomplices prior to attacks by determining whether specific information is embedded in the memory of the subject. B R A I N F I N G E R P R I N T I N G
  15. 15. Medical Field * Alzheimer’s Disease *Detects MERMER brainwave *Symptoms reversible through dietary and medicinal changes B R A I N F I N G E R P R I N T I N G
  16. 16. Advertising  Brain fingerprinting allows advertisers to determine what information from an ad is retained in memory  What elements do people pay attention to  What type of media is most effective  How to advertise to people all over the world B R A I N F I N G E R P R I N T I N G
  17. 17. ADVANTAGES….. • Identify criminals quickly and scientifically • Record of 100% accuracy • Identify terrorists and members of gangs, criminal and intelligence organizations • Reduce expenditure of money and other resources in law enforcement • Reduce evasion of justice B R A I N F I N G E R P R I N T I N G
  18. 18. CONCLUSION…. • It would be inappropriate to generalize the results of the present research because of the small sample of subjects. • But the 100% accuracy and high confidence level of the results, however, provide further support for results from previous research using brain MERMER testing B R A I N F I N G E R P R I N T I N G
