  • 1. NEW PROTEA HOTEL SEA POINT SHOWS THE WORLD A FRESH NEW FACE September 2013: Protea Hotel Sea Point has opened its doors to show a fresh new face to GUESTS who are already enjoying the light and airy seaside feel. The hotel was closed for winter to gut the public areas, restaurant and sea-facing rooms, and while the facade may look the same, the hotel inside has been completely transformed. A surfboard resting on a mini beach at the hotel entrance sets the stage for the new public areas that are now an open space incorporating a 9m long communal work table. The open plan design also incorporates the lounge, bar and restaurant area – all decorated in textured blue and soft sand colours. Granite and marble also grace the new communal area that is ideal for socialising, relaxing, get-togethers or work. iPads have been fitted into the new communal work table, for GUESTS to take advantage of the 500Mb of free Wi-Fi they receive each day. Included in the design is a more comfortable lounge area with intimate seating ideal for meetings or simply sitting back to chill. The hotel’s restaurant patio has been redone with comfortable beach house style furniture and loads of greenery to ensure that diners get that seaside holiday feeling – even if they’re travelling on business! All the rooms in the hotel have also been fitted with new, more environmentally friendly air- conditioners. Among the in-room changes all the sea-facing rooms are brand new and enjoy a tranquil leisure feel whilst incorporating modern amenities that meet the exacting needs of business and leisure travellers respectively. The family rooms are more spacious and offer greater flexibility with the option of four single beds or two double beds; ideally suited for families and groups. What remains the same is the authentic and personalised GUEST service and the central location of the hotel to the beautiful beaches, Cape Town’s famous attractions and the city centre. Protea Hospitality Group Director of Sales, Marketing and Revenue, Danny Bryer, says the transformation of the hotel interior is staggering. “The hotel still offers world-class service, but the feel of it has changed from depth of earthier tones to a space that is light, airy and extremely attractive. “It’s a two-minute walk to the Promenade. Clifton and Camps Bay’s beaches and the city centre are a 5-minute drive away, as is the V&A Waterfront,” says Bryer. “Protea Hotel Sea Point is one of those hospitality properties that provides a unique product offering for a range of different customers. It does immensely good conferencing trade, it’s a central location for business travellers (with the added bonus of the sea just outside the window) and families love the location as well as the family rooms.” Protea Hotel Sea Point is one of 12 Protea Hospitality Group properties in the city and it is the fourth hotel in the portfolio on the Atlantic Seaboard to have undergone a transformation since 2011.
