  • 2. Ivan was born in Kazakhstan, where he began studying judo. When Ivan was  9 years old, his parents moved to Barnaul, where he continued his judo  classes and attended  school number 40.
  • 3. His coach was Igor Votyakov and bronze medalist Dmitry Sergeyev-1992 .
  • 4. In 2009 he won the European Championship in Tbilisi. At the World Championships 2009 in Rotterdam he was the only Russian to win the gold medal.
  • 5. At the Olympic Games in London in 2012 he won a bronze medal in judo in the weight category up to 81 kg, after beating the Japanese Takahiro Nakai.
  • 6. On the 26th of May 2013 he was the winner of the famous tournament «World Masters», which took place in the city of Tyumen.
