Figure abstraction

  1. 1. Naturalism• Fully representational with specific details
  2. 2. Realism• Representational but emphasizes the emotional not specific
  3. 3. Semi Abstraction• Partly representational but simplified and rearranged.
  4. 4. Objective Abstraction• Based on a physical object but simplified and rearranged so that it appears nonobjective.
  5. 5. Non Objective Abstraction• Started without any reference to a physical object. Based on pure design.
  6. 6. Abstraction of Figure• Use the abstract artists such as Picasso as inspiration• Simplification of the forms found within the figure• Breaking down into geometric shapes: rounded forms or jagged forms• Cropping acceptable• Incorporate Color• Stylized

Abstraction (2)• Draw the figure in representational style, add bright colors…• Take drawing home and draw a grid on top or on back with inch squares, according to the size of the paper, smaller size…1 inch, 2 inch, etc for larger• Cut the drawing into all the squares of the grid• Reassemble and glue onto another paper to create an abstraction of the figures
