Narrative • The ‘monster’ or ‘horror’ is embedded inside a structure. So the narrative is essential. • First question: What is the story? • Second question: Where is the recognition and where is the reversal? (Aristotle)
What do Horror stories do? • Prove, disclose, discover, and confirm the existence of something ‘impossible’ • Revelation of an evil force or a ‘monster’ is coupled with the pleasure of being disgusted by it.
