  1. 1. Sentence Fragments Definition: Every sentence must have a subject & verb to express a complete thought. A word group that lacks a subject or a verb & does not express a complete thought is a fragment. Correction Method: The easiest way to correct a fragment is to connect the fragment to the sentence that comes before or after (whichever makes the most sense). Now one clear sentence has been formed. Examples 1. Incorrect: The car crashed. But missed the huge tree. Correct: The car crashed, but missed the huge tree. 2. Incorrect: I plan on working late. To finish the job. Correct: I plan on working late to finish the job. 3. Incorrect: I spent three hours on the phone. Trying to get concert tickets. Correct: I spent three hours on the phone trying to get concert tickets.
