    Words that sound the same, but are spelled differently because they have different meanings.
  • 2. Definition
    Many words that sound alike are actually spelled differently, depending on their meaning. Most computer spellcheckers do not fix this.
    Incorrect: I was not aloud to go out late.
    Correct: I was not allowed to go out late.
  • 3. Correction Method
    To correct this common grammar problem, simply memorize & practice using common homonyms.
    Incorrect: He went too the mall.
    Correct: He went to the mall.
  • 4. Example Sentences
    Incorrect: Their being very rude.
    Correct: They’re being very rude.
    Incorrect: Who would where that ugly shirt?
    Correct: Who would wear that ugly shirt?
