  • 2. Stand out from the CROWD With our PROFESSIONAL CV service The Employment ProcessWhat is the Employment Process?• The process used by most employers/recruiters to process job applications• We can use the same model for analysis, but YES – it does vary per employer: • Many retailers and sales orientated jobs will tend to use some form of Group selection • Technical jobs (the professions) will often pre-vet job applicants to assure themselves that you are adequately qualified• ession and competition issue…• 2008: on average, 30 applications per job advert• 2011: on average, 120 applications per job advert • Still split down the thirds rule = 40 good and communicative job applicationsThe Recruiter/Human Resources issue…• To fulfil one job, the Recruiter/HR professional ONLY needs… • 1 person to accept the job, and one back-up • 3 people to undertake the job interview • 6 people to Telephone interview• So do they need the other 30 good and communicative job applicants = NO!http://cv4.biz 0844 884 2825 info@cv4.biz

  • 6. Stand out from the CROWD With our PROFESSIONAL CV service The reality of Job BoardsJob boards make money from…• Placing jobs adverts from employers/recruiters on their job board• Selling job applicants CV’s to employers, recruiters and anyone else willing to pay!Analysis of job applications processed via job boards shows that…• At best, you stand a 12% chance of getting interviewed from a job application• The same statistic is true of using a companies job application systemPart of the problem is the “cold” job application wall…• As it’s so easy to apply, more candidates can apply for more jobs more quickly• The jobs boards and company job applications systems are seen as “cold process-driven computers,” and companies compound this problem by giving little progress/feedback, if anyWhat’s the answer to the cold jobs board problem?• Set up your alerts on week1 of your job search, and then forget about them!• If you find an interesting job advertised, DON’T apply via the jobs boards• If you really want to work for that company, AVOID their job application system, until...http://cv4.biz 0844 884 2825 info@cv4.biz
  • 7. Stand out from the CROWD With our PROFESSIONAL CV service CV analysisKnown as the Why Was I Rejected test…2. Find a job advert for a job that you think that you could do3. Read it three times4. On the FOURTH time of reading the job advert, take a highlighter pen and mark out the required Skills, Qualifications and Experiences. Read it a fifth time to make sure you have got them all5. Now take the first page of your two page CV… • NOTE: You don’t need the second page, so chuck it away!6. Take the first page of your CV, and fold it in half. Tear the page in two… • NOTE: You don’t need the bottom half of the page, so chuck it away!7. You should be left with just the top half of your existing CV, and the highlighted job advert8. Now find and highlight the EXACT same Skills, Qualifications and Experiences on what is left of your CV…• Can find them all You are in the top third, you could get an interview• Find some but not all Could have got an interview pre-recession, now rejected• Can’t find any of them You will be rejected, DO NOT apply for this job!http://cv4.biz 0844 884 2825 info@cv4.biz
  • 8. Stand out from the CROWD With our PROFESSIONAL CV service Summary• 2/3rds of job applications are rejected because the CV doesn’t confirm that the job applicant has the right combination of Skills, Qualifications and Experiences• The rise in competition means even if you are right for that job, you could still get rejected • You need to find a better way of applying• The reality of Job Boards is that you only stand a 12% of a Telephone Interview • Set up your alerts, use them as research, apply directly to the company• If you don’t confirm that you have the required Skills, Qualifications and Experiences in the first half page of your CV, you will get rejectedhttp://cv4.biz 0844 884 2825 info@cv4.biz
