  • 1. CRADLE MY HEART {{{ Rumi }}}
  • 2. Last night,
  • 3. I was lying on the rooftop,
  • 4. thinking of you.
  • 5. I saw a special Star,
  • 6. and summoned her to take you a message.
  • 7. I prostrated myself to the Star
  • 8. and asked her to take my prostration
  • 9. to that Sun of Tabriz.
  • 10. So that with his light, he can turn
  • 11. my dark stones into gold.
  • 12. I opened my chest and showed her my scars,
  • 13. I told her to bring me news
  • 14. of my bloodthirsty Lover.
  • 15. As I waited,
  • 16. I paced back and forth,
  • 17. until the child of my heart became quiet.
  • 18. The child slept, as if I were rocking his cradle.
  • 19. Oh Beloved, give milk to the infant of the heart,
  • 20. and don't hold us from our turning.
  • 21. You have cared for hundreds,
  • 22. don't let it stop with me now.
  • 23. At the end, the town of unity is the place for the heart.
  • 24. Why do you keep this bewildered heart
  • 25. in the town of dissolution?
  • 26. I have gone speechless, but to rid myself
  • 27. of this dry mood,
  • 28. oh Saaqhi, pass the narcissus of the wine.
