1. INTRODUCTION
We are introducing the business of
Waste Management on a public-private
patnership with a view to take on the severe
problem of solid waste disposal in the city
of Pune and to recycle the wastes.
3. WASTE MANAGEMENT ??!!
Collection , Processing , Recycle or Disposal and
Monitoring waste materials.
Term relates to materials produced by human
activity and undertaken to reduce effects of health ,
environment and aesthetics.
Waste management differs in Urban –Rural and
Residential- Industrial areas.
Residential-Industrial waste disposal is the
responsibility of the local Municipal Corporation.
4. OVERVIEW…
Problem of consumption and disposal as a result
of modern life style.
Garbage disposal mostly unorganised in the
country.
Indians mostly not educated about waste
segregation unlike western countries.
Pune city produces about 12000 T of solid waste
out of which about 2000 T are residential wastes.
As of now the garbage is dumped at Urali-
Devachi village on the outskirts of the city.
5. …OVERVIEW
Unplanned landfills in the village creating
problems of air and ground water pollution .
Only 7% of solid wastes finds its way into proper
recycling agencies of the Pune Municipal
Corporation.
About 300 MT segregated for being used as
manure.
85% of the wastes are unutilised being simply
dumped creating environmental issues.
7. BASIS AND PRESUMPTIONS
* It is assumed that the unit will operate on the basis for
300 working days in a year.
* The salary and wages for staff and labour has been
taken into consideration on the basis of prevailing market
rates.
* The costs of land, construction charges, machinery and
equipment, raw materials, and consumables, other
contingent expenses etc. indicated in the scheme are based
on the prices, prevailing at the time.
8. SCOPE
Provide comprehensive Waste Management
solutions for primarily Residential Solid Waste
disposal.
Process include collection, segregation,
transportation and assistance to recycle industry.
Consultancy services.
All practices in accordance with MSW 2000 rules.
Organic wastes converted into composts and
inorganic wastes further sent to recycle plants.
9. IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE

1. Survey of collection of data in respect
of
garbage generation and tie ups with
local Municipal Corporation
1day to 2nd month
2. Arrangement for money 2nd to 3rd
3. Preparation of project report and
registration
2nd to 3rd
4. Development of Site and construction
of plant
3rd to 4th
7. Trial production 5th month
onwards
10. COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE
Waste Management with
separate segregation and
treatment site.
Treat Waste in environmental
friendly manner.
Others dump non-useful
material I open on the road side
or burn it as it is.
12. FUTURE ACTIVITIES
Increase Area of Operation within the city.
Install Anaerobic Sewage treatment plant.
Waste to energy ( W2E ) conversion with Biogas
plants with a view to reduce landfills by 100%.
14. ADVANTAGES OF AAC BLOCKS..
Lighter in weight, can be transported in pellet mode.
Handling cost is less.
Less requirement of Steel in construction.
Heat resistant.
Less water absorption.
Factory made , can be delivered in time as per order.
15. ..ADVANTAGES OF AAC BLOCKS
Assured quality control.
Not affected by salinity.
Smooth surface, plastering not required.
Due to large size of block for same weight
construction cost is less.
No collateral damage due to earthquake.

22. TECHNOLOGY
Technology essentially of German origin.
All equipments of German design being
manufactured in China.
Technology agreements would be entered
with respect to guarantee about the
equipment performance , with equipment
suppliers.
24. MANUFACTURING PROCESS
The process involves wet mixing of fly ash and water.
The mixture is then churned over time to a required
density.
The mixture is fed with lime, gypsum, cement and
aluminium powder in a complex mixing process.
The mixture is then put in a mould where it comes in
contact with the accelerating agent to swell up.
The swelled mixture is dried and cut to desired sized
blocks.
The entire blocks on trolleys is baked in the autoclave
and the blocks are ready .

27. Demand And Supply
Currently the demand for bricks much
higher than the supply.
D & S gap is 250 billion bricks per annum
Raw material used for regular red bricks is
limited.
Strategic step:
– Introducing Fly Ash Bricks to reduce demand
and supply gap.
– Subsidies and orders from govt.
32. Existing Market Scenario..
Market is dominated by red bricks.
Current estimates show the gap between
demand and supply of bricks to be of the
order of 250 billion bricks per annum.
It is new product to the market.
This project helps to reduce environment
pollution.
33. ..Existing Market Scenario
Use of this bricks results in savings in
construction cost by 25%
These bricks are already getting popular
with reputed Govt. agencies and builders.
34. Sales Target
We are going to sale 7800 cu mtr per month
( 50 % of capacity ) of blocks in the first year.
In second year the sales target will be 60% of
established capacity.
36. STP Strategy
Segmentation
– Based on the geographic location
• As our plant will be located in Nashik area, initial
emphasis to tap the market in Maharashtra.
• Subsequent spread to neighbouring states of Gujarat,
Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

46. HR Management
Ratio of 1: 4 of skilled to semi-skilled or un-
skilled workers.
80% of workers from local catchment areas and
balance from adjoining regions.
100% boarding and lodging facilities for staff
available .
Workers given an incentive of Rs 10/- per day
for 100 % attendance through the month.
Contractor paid Rs 50/- per labour per month .
Despite the bold strides in industry and business that we have made in the last fifteen years, our country still needs a good scrubbing. Nothing irritates more than the sight of the raw filth our fair land seems to be decorated with from its rivers to its mountains while we try valiantly to shed our third world tags
It has been found that leachates originate from solid waste landfill-contaminated groundwater. Well water found in
Urali-Devachi village is not safe for drinking, outdoor bathing, propagation of aquatic life, industrial cooling
and for irrigation. If this municipal solid waste landfill continues, it may create a toxic bomb in future.
Fly Ash bricks are made of fly ash, lime, gypsum and cement. These can be extensively used in all building constructional activities similar to that of common burnt clay bricks. The fly ash bricks are comparatively lighter in weight and stronger than common clay bricks. Since fly ash is being accumulated as waste material in large quantity near thermal power plants and creating serious environmental pollution problems, its utilisation as main raw material in the manufacture of bricks will not only create ample opportunities for its proper and useful disposal but also help in environmental pollution control to a greater extent in the surrounding areas of power plants. In view of superior quality and eco-friendly nature, and government support the demand for Fly Ash Bricks has picked up.
