There were five India-bound investments by US investors and one US-bound investment by Indian companies in July 2010. The accelerating pace of India bound investments by US companies demonstrates the increasing number of opportunities in India, especially in the areas of food processing, energy, pharmaceuticals, financial services, and engineering.
Key India-bound transactions from the US in July were Blackstone's stake purchase in power plant developer Monnet Power, Wellington's stake purchase in rice producer and wholesaler REI Agro, Houlihan Lokey's stake purchase in financial services firm Avista Advisory, Global Equipment Services acquisition of automation software company Wins Infotek, and Colorcon's acquisition of the business of Pharmaceutical Coatings Pvt Ltd.

For more information, please visit www.ivgpartners.com Recent ReportsIndia's Big Opportunities for Western Small and Medium (SME) Companies - Our Opinion column in The Wall Street Journalleft0Large Western companies have long recognized the opportunities India's growth presents, and General Electric, Honeywell, IBM, Pepsi and the like are already operating in India in force. But now there are a bunch of new kids on the block, too: Western small- and medium enterprises. These smaller companies find it increasingly difficult to generate income in their home base as consumer spending decreases, population ages and competition increases. India offers them a population of 1.1 billion people that is young and growing younger; a savings rate that is high and rising; and an economy that is expected to sustain growth rates above 8% per year for a long time.India Renewable Energy and Solar Photovoltaic Market - Opportunities for US Companies   left0India has targeted 20GW of Solar Power by 2022 in its Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission. With more than 300 days of sunshine annually and a large customer base, India  offers a great potential for off-grid PV deployments such as rural lighting and electrification, powering irrigation pump sets, back-up power generation for cellular towers, captive power generation, urban applications and highway lighting. This, combined with investor friendly policies and solar energy promotion, provides the right platform for growth.India Power and Distribution Transformers - Opportunities for US Companies  left0India has the fifth largest generation capacity in the world with an installed capacity of 152 GW as of 2009, which is about 4 percent of global power generation. The average per capita consumption of electricity in India is estimated to be 704 kWh during 2008-09. In order to provide availability of over 1000 units of per capita electricity by year 2012, over 100,000 MW of capacity addition would be required. This has resulted in massive addition plans being proposed in the sub-sectors of Generation Transmission and Distribution.Industry Trends & NewsTechnology & Telecom    United Technologies unit sets up center in MumbaiMicrosoft, Intech to expand Gujarat operationsValue Labs opens centre for Celgene Aditya Birla Minacs eyes buys in US, CanadaEnergy    Before N-bill nod, US power firm to set up shopObama powers Exim funds for RelianceIndia plans to launch shale gas auction in august 2011Oil India says has $2 billion budget for foreign buys Banking & Finance     Citi Venture Capital International On Exit Mode From KS Oils.New buyout norms may prove positive for private equity firmsPE funds invested $300 mn in food processing, agri-based companiesRPG Co KEC In Race For US-Based SAE TowersLife SciencesNatco to enter Russian, S American markets in 2 yearsIndoco Remedies eyeing Western Africa, Latin American marketsBilcare inks deals for new anti-counterfeit technology Good performance in US drives profits of Indian pharma firmsDefence & Aerospace Pentagon pitches for $10 billion Indian fighter jet dealUnited Technologies unit sets up center in MumbaiIndustrial Commodities & Manufacturing BHEL, GE sign deal to make compressors US-based Superior To Acquire 26% In Synergies CastingsCaterpillar to double Chennai truck plant capacity by 2012Tishman Speyer In Talks To Buy BPTP's Gurgaon IT Park For Rs 400CrRetail and Franchising        Remax ties up with Franchise India; to deal Rs 10k cr propertiesChandigarh gets Harley store  IMaCS Virtus Global Partners501 Fifth Ave, Suite 302New York, NY 10017(646) 807-9290www.ivgpartners.com<br />
