    52. night time shuttle service
      • 50% of people who die on the roads have a blood alcohol concentration above 0.05 gram per 100 milliliters.
      • Every year about 18,000 South Africans die in motor vehicle crashes.
      • 150,000 other people are injured, often seriously.
      • This costs the SA economy R43 Billion a year .
      • Kab Shuttle works as a “ Hop-on Hop-off ” night time shuttle service for students .
      • It is an innovative, sustainable & socially responsible alternative to drinking & driving
    53. free service & future plans
      • Free night time transport will be offered to students at UCT and Stellenbosch from 2009
      • Our hope is to develop a more extensive service that is convenient to all of Cape Town’s night time commuters .
    54. drinking & driving
      • 50% of people who die on the roads are over the legal limit .
      • 2.5 units of alcohol is the legal limit for drinking & driving…the equivalent of just over 2 glasses of wine
      • Every year about 18,000 South Africans die in motor vehicle crashes.
      • This costs the SA economy R43 Billion a year
    55. curbing the habit By targeting students, Kab Shuttle contributes to nipping in the bud the culture of drunk driving
    56. how it works
      • Five 22-seater Mercedes Sprinter vehicles run on a fixed schedule on a fixed route with 13 pick up & drop off points convenient for students
      • Starting with 2 nights a week, Thursday & Friday, from 20h30 till 04h00
    57. the routes
    58. branding opportunity
      • This is a unique opportunity for a branding partner who wishes to connect their brand with the student market and general public
      • Exposure to over 1500 impressionable students and the public, on every night the service runs.
    59. branding opportunity
      • The entire vehicle can be branded, inside and out
      • Advertising on the vehicles’ DVD screens.
      • The opportunity to be synonymous with the shuttle service
    60. New mobility
      • Intelligent design of systems to enhance mobility in communities, particularly urban environments.
      • The focus is on integration , connecting multiple-hubs in a network which connects multiple modes
      • It provides for a system of seamless, convenient, sustainable, safe and affordable transport for everyone - rich and poor .
      • Allows for new innovations in transport solutions
    61. where kab fits in
      • Kab Shuttle fits into the private sector area of new mobility by offering a high quality alternative – or complement – to the mostly car-based transport system of the city
      • It offers a practical and sustainable solution
    62. traffic & SOVs
      • Single occupied vehicles (SOVs) who drive long distances to work daily, make up most of the congestion on our roads
      • Kab Shuttle targets this type of commuter specifically by introducing a new from of express bus transport .
    63. working together In this way Kab Shuttle works together with both pre-existing as well as future modes of transport
    64. pilot project – new mobility
      • Involves transporting a fixed number of commuters, initially between 20-100 people, to & from work , Monday to Friday.
      • Starting late October 2008
    65. the connected bus
      • The first pickup point will run from Somerset West to the CBD
      • By utilizing the N2’s dedicated lane , a NM passenger may reduce their commute by 1 hour per day
      • The vehicles will have bicycle racks and wireless internet to aid both the mobility & productivity of passengers.
    66. residential targets
    67. future plans
      • Our medium term goal is to take 1000 cars off Cape Town’s roads by 2010, replacing them with 50 small to medium size buses.
      • The long term goal is to reduce emissions, congestion , commuting time and consumption .

    74. Branded Web Applications
      • A more interesting web experience
    75. The premise
      • Ads are boring
    76. We treat web the same as print
      • When it’s actually quite different.
    77. We’ve got a good legacy
    78. It’s what we know
    79. Maybe we should do something different
    80. Because, who actually clicks on those ads?
    81. Let’s think of the web as something different
    82. What about some utility ?
    83. But this isn’t that new either
    84. Hang on ! We’ve done this before!
    85. It’s already happening
    86. We’ve learnt that:
      • Experiences Stick
      Banners don’t
    87. Closer to home
