  • 2. When it comes to replacing empty ink cartridges every inkjet printer is a little different, however they all follow the same basic steps. Step 1. Make a note of the printer model number. You will need to have this information in order to find the correct replacement ink cartridges. The model number is generally located on the reverse of the printer. • 3. Step 2. Switch on your printer and open the lid/cover that houses the ink cartridges. The cartridges will slide to the center of the printer. You might have to press the Ink button on the front of the printer – it may have a “drop” icon on it, to allow the cartridges to slide out. Please DO NOT pull the print head out of its housing. It should move out automatically, either when the lid is opened or a button is pressed. Printer Ink Cartridges | Barn Road, Battsland, Dunleer, Co Louth | www.printerinkcartridges.ie
  • 4. Step 3. Carefully remove the ink cartridges you want to replace. Depending on the model of your printer, there may be up to six cartridges to choose from. The cartridge’s ink color is normally displayed on its label. Do not If you leave a print head empty for too long can dry it out. • 5. Step 4. After removing the packaging on the new cartridge, gently shake the new cartridge. A gentle shaking will help circulate the ink around the cartridge. Don’t forget - make sure you shake the cartridge BEFORE opening the bag to prevent any leakage. Printer Ink Cartridges | Barn Road, Battsland, Dunleer, Co Louth | www.printerinkcartridges.ie
  • 6. Step 5. Remove the protector tape that covers the ink cartridge. These differ by brand, but usually all ink cartridges will have a protective sticker or piece of plastic over the dispenser that needs to be removed before installation. • 7. Step 6. Install the cartridge into the printer. Insert it in the reverse way that you remove it from the printer. Keeping it at the correct angle the ink cartridge should fit in with little effort. Most newer cartridges will lock or ‘click’ into place automatically with a little pressure. • 8. Printer Ink Cartridges Step 7. To check that the cartridges that the cartridges have been installed correctly print a test page. This will get then ink flowing and let you know if you need to perform a head cleaning operation. This is also useful if you discover that the print heads need re-aligning, adjustments can be carried out at this stage.
