Ideal Final Result - Presentation Transcript

    1. TRIZ From December 13th to 20th , 2008
    2. New Can Platform (NCP) Functionality WS Definition of the system
    3. What do we sell? Instead of instrumentation NCP sells information display for decision making If Procter and Gamble instead of laundry powder P&G sells clean cloths then
    4. Ideal Final Result Hermetic: No condensation or dust inside, always have the functionality, no interference. Cosmetic: Customer can decide the styling od the dial and pointer Communication: Not relevant Connection: not relevant Mounting: Not relevant Communication: not relevant Configuration. Can change the order of the module if he wants Diagnostic: can have a fast diagnostic at the workshop of which part is failing (the measurment system of the part) IFR Final customer Hermetic Easy to close at the manufacturing line: no scrap and fast Cosmetics Less part numbers , materials that aren't delicate Communication: Standard Connection not relevant Mounting: Not relevant Comm: 100% compatible One variant of a product Not relevant Hermetic Within requirements (IP69, IP66, etc) Cosmetic: Cosmetics can be different depending the assembly. No scratches during assembly Communication: Standard Connection not needed, no cables Mounting: fast and easy Comm: 100% compatible Configuration: Assemble and later decide the configuration Diagnostic: can have a fast diagnostic at the workshop of which part is failing (the measurment system of the part) What is important to the customer: Have a product that fit their design: Hermetic Cosmetic Communication Protocol Simple product: Easy to connect Easy to assemble (mounting) Communication protocol Self- Configurable Self Diagnostics IFR Manufacturer IFR Customers Plants Attribute
    5. Ideal Final Result Can Add modules if he wants to Battery is available for other applications Knows the status of the variables through other devices such as internet, PDA, SMS, etc IFR Final customer Less part numbers, less stock One core product Less components to manage energy Competitive advantage over competitors The module has the functions that each customer requires yet is a platform ? Competitive advantage over competitors Customized customer have the functions that he needs Friendly to the environment: Current consumption Availability of information Information is available at any time IFR Manufacturer IFR Customers Plants Attribute
    6. Ideal Final Result We manufacture one product but customer obtains several products: platform
      • Final Customer:
      • Those products are "Plug & Play" by the final customer (or workshop) meaning
      • That can be re-arranged by the user at the panel layout
      • The information is always available (status of variables)
      • Manufacture:
      • At the application plants:
      • Easy to mount  one movement to clamp
      • At our facility:
      • As few part numbers as possible
      • As few efforts as possible
    7. Functions to improve (team consensus) Functions while module is Off Mounting Method Functions while module is On Manufacture Configurable
    8. Ideas:
      • Use displays to configure the look of the gauge (Eliminates pointers)
      • One variant – check display type color gauge preferred
      • Use a display (front) and a pointer (back) to have
      • a different look
      • Use a display with a hole in the middle so we can
      • configure the dial but the
      • pointer still mechanical or with light.
      • Use dials that have a cut so we can change
      • them without taking out the pointer
      Configurable
    9. Ideas * Use a turn & lock system using a modification in the housing Use a bottle vacuum lock to fix the module (a) Use an elastomeric cone wrapping the module and press it into the mask Assemble the module in the back and the ring – bezel should be attached to the mask or panel Hook that slides and holds the module (a) Mounting method
    10. Ideas * Add an alarm function to the main gauge: For door lock open , Diesel level Door open, Wake-up alarm (trend: Security and paranoia ) Turn the module in an uniform surface (if it is a display) Turn the module in to a mirror Use the pointers as a found sensitive device and Make the pointers move as an equalizer Functions while module is Off
    11. ideas Use more senses to advice the user (tact, smell, sound): all display is a button If we connect an other module , master recognize it Master can rearrange slaves in order without take them out (if module has a display) Information can be send to PDA, internet or other sources: ¿How much gas do I have? Functions while module is On
    12. Module concept
      • The customer decides which functions he wants
      • But for us is just connecting modules to a main core module. (pass a station or not)
      • If it's a display module the module would be thinner
      • If it's a display we are producing just one variant with
      • no dial obsolesce
Bezel - no bezel Hermetic Communication adds Basic communication Master Module Graphic controller Plug and play software Others
    14. Contradictions:
      • Styling is good & bad
      • Good mounting support at the truck but the cycle time at assembly plant is too long.
      • The closing of the bezel is not good at production but achieves the requirement.
      • We can update the software but user is not able to do so
    15. Styling:
      • Mount from the back of the mask so it can stay flat at the cockpit + the bezel, if needed is part of the cockpit mask
      • Some of the features can be decided by the user, e.g. Illumination can change colors (LED)
    16. Architecture:
      • Have a master "combo" to built the PCB meaning it´s a general PCB design and if needed the components and software will be placed
      • All others are slaves and can be digital or analog
      • No restriction in quantity of modules linked to eachother
      • Master recognize automatically the slaves
    17. Market trends: succesful products have at least one of these
      • Individualism against Tribalism
      • Ubiquitous Computing
      • Environmental awareness
      • Security and paranoia
      • Third places between home and work
      • Simplicity
      • Sedentary life style
      • Obesity
      • Guilt
      • Being alive
      • Travel & Vacation
      • Life long Learning
      • Virtual
      • Future Tense
      • More litigation
      • Little luxuries
      • Women in to market
    18. Ideas by trend
      • Individualism against Tribalism:
      • Individualism:
      • --Load images while the unit is off such as advertising, visual aids, remainders.
      • Change colors of bezels or backlights
      • ---If a display is chosen, the dial can be modify for each application (B&W, limited colors, full color)
      • Tribalism:
      • -- Do not change pointers, even when we have displays, the information should be
      • Graphical and not alphanumerical (meaning pointer that moves, instead showing a value)
    19. Ubiquitous Computing: (hmi)
      • Data interaction with electronic devices: Send status or history to an aplication. (module can be present or not)
      • Have a local storage and download if needed
      • Add functions not related to the application such as thermometer of weather.
    20. Simplicity- virtual:
      • Change the display information. User does not need all information all the time, so display information can change and have less devices installed (maybe can turn bigger)
    21. Environmental awareness
      • Use recycled material for non Cosmetics parts
      • Equipotenciallity: Since the truck vibrates , use the energy to have the module always charged
