  • Upgrading your operating system doesn’t have to look like the picture. Microsoft has made an easy upgrade path, and the upgrade is well worth it. I’ll be going over some of the advantages Windows 7 has over Windows XP in the following slides.
  • The user interface, called a GUI, is much more attractive in my opinion in Windows 7. Most windows are partially transparent and when switching between applications you have previews of what is going on in that application without having to actually switch to the application. There have been big security improvements with Windows 7, with the addition of User Access Control. This feature prompts users when programs want to make administrative changes to ensure has authorized the changes so malicious software is slowed from embedding itself into the computerThings like start up, shutdown, sleep mode and hibernation were all made faster in Windows 7, which means you can get to work or play faster.
  • Windows 7 has built in protection against spyware and other malicious software while Windows XP does notWindows 7 has improved power management settings for longer battery life if running on a laptopWindows 7 can stream music, photos, and videos around your houseWindows 7 simplifies wireless connections while Windows XP required a little more configuration
