Owner// Robert Rodriguez- Puerto Rican <ul><li>Q. - What type of Food you say brings in the most profit? </li></ul><ul><li>A. - Rice and Beans , Snapples, chips, candy,etc. </li></ul><ul><li>Q. - When did you start running this bodega? </li></ul><ul><li>A. - 5 years </li></ul><ul><li>Q. - Do you feel that if there was a integration of healthier food such-as fruits and vegetables, that you business would benefit from it? </li></ul><ul><li>A. - maybe, but the chips and stuff make money. I need money. </li></ul>

What more could you ask for? </li></ul><ul><li>Q - The type of customers that come in and out of here are American Spanish. </li></ul><ul><li>A. - If I had the chance to renovate, I wouldn’t, because it loses business. I have never close in 14 years. </li></ul><ul><li>Q. - If you were to have healthy food , what you want to provide? </li></ul><ul><li>A. - probably Apples and Oranges . I mean everyday new fruit comes in? </li></ul>

  17. 23. Inside the bodega// Observe <ul><li>How is the stock arranged? Does the produce look fresh? </li></ul><ul><li>What is the first stock that you see when you come in? </li></ul><ul><li>-etc. etc. etc </li></ul>
  18. 24. The produce// <ul><li>- Fruits (Plantains,Oranges,Bananas) are stored in boxes. In which they are going old quickly. One costumer complained about the quality of the bananas. Another wanted a bigger variety of fruits. </li></ul><ul><li>- Vegetables are in the in a display refrigerator, but they are piled up and unorganized. </li></ul>

Snack Food// <ul><li>The bodega is stuffed with snack food that piles up next to the counter. </li></ul><ul><li>There is a variety of chips, cookies, crackers, etc. </li></ul><ul><li>All these products are individually wrapped. </li></ul><ul><li>Positioned at the most prominent spots around the counter and the entrance of the bodega </li></ul><ul><li>- It can be assumed that the snack foods are some of the most popular poducts sold at the bodega. </li></ul>

Beverages// <ul><li>Soda’s and other non-water soft drinks are placed in especially prominent, at eye level, in the refrigerators. </li></ul><ul><li>Water is situated in the back of the bodega. It is not something that is in the costumers eye field when entering the store. </li></ul><ul><li>- the bodega offers a wide array of cheap bears, that are mostly located in the front of the store. </li></ul>

The Atmosphere// <ul><li>Everybody was very friendly. </li></ul><ul><li>Most costumers were men. </li></ul><ul><li>You could observe that the people that shop at the J&F bodega were there everyday. This implies that the bodega is a kind of hang out. </li></ul><ul><li>the bodega is well integrated in the neighborhood community that is located south of Stanton. </li></ul><ul><li>This neighborhood is mostly Puerto Rican or Dominican. </li></ul>

The Tools// <ul><li>A camera that is small enough </li></ul><ul><li>to not get too much attention. </li></ul><ul><li>the camera should also have a </li></ul><ul><li>video function in order to record </li></ul><ul><li>video interviews. </li></ul><ul><li>A traditional set of pen and paper to make quick notes and to write down observations and answers from </li></ul><ul><li>the interviews. </li></ul>
