SOAP OPERA The majority of soap operas are made in South America The name soap opera comes from the original serials broadcast on radio that had soap manufacturers such as Colgate-Palmolive as sponsors. These radio serials were broadcast at times when mostly housewives would be listening; the shows were consumed by a predominantly female audience

  14. 14. Famous soap operas in Britain Eastender is a soap opera about life in an area of London. It is very popular among teenagers. Coronation Street is another soap opera and it started in 1960 and it is on TV four times a week!

If you don’t pay, you can be fined with 1.000 pounds . (1200 euros) </li></ul><ul><li>Adverts did not exist in BBC. That’s why the license was paid, but they do now. </li></ul>
