  •  Chennai is the capital city of state Tamil Nadu in India. Chennai enjoys commercial, cultural and educational center in South of India. Chennai is usually known as the “Cultural Capital of South India”. Over the recent years, Chennai is recognized as the largest exporter of services for IT and BPO. The city also has large numbers of automobile industries located in and around the city, thus giving it a name of “Detroit of India”. The music enjoyed by residents of Chennai is Carnatic Music. Chennai hosts cultural events in its vicinity. The Madras Music Session is one of them. The classical dance form of Tamilians is Bharat Natyam. Kollywood is the Tamil film industry located in the city that has great movies made over the years.
  •  Chennai has a tropical wet and dry climate. The weather in Chennai is usually hot and humid for the entire year. The city enjoys coolest temperature only in the period of December and January. The city enjoys rainfall from the period of July usually.
  •  Arubathimoovar festival - This festival is celebrated in order to pay devotion to the 63 saints of Shiva (Siva) who spent their lives in devoting homage to lord Shiva. Chitirai festival – This is celebrated to pay respect to the marriage occassion between Meenakshi (Pandiyan Princess) and Lord Sundareswarar. Kanthri festival is dedicated to saint Quadirwali. Kavadi festival – This festival is dedicated to Lord Muruga which is celebrated throughout the city. Tayagaraja festival – This festival is celebrated to pay homage to South Indian saint and composer who lived during the 18th century. Vellankani – This festival is celebrated in the memory of a great legend of Portugese sailors who were saved in the city from a storm.
  •  Pongal - Pongal is celebrated with great enthusiasm by Tamilians across the world. It is the Chennais most important and popular festival. This festival usually falls on January 14th and is embraced with popular Tamilian dishes.
  •  Chennai the “The Gate Way to South India” is one of the few cities in the world that accommodates a national park, within its limits. Along with cultural significance, temples and beaches add more value to Chennai.
