Green Gifts for Kids – 2013 List. This year he’s making holiday shoppers’ gift giving a
little easier - and just a smidge greener.
“This holiday season,” says Trash, “you can buy the kids in your life some great gifts,
and those gifts can be great for the planet as well.” This year’s list includes items for little
kids - like tough plastic toy trucks (made of postconsumer recycled plastic), flashy
skateboards (made of fast growing/renewable bamboo) or music (green themed, of
course) - and green gifts for older kids including backpacks (made of recycled seatbelts),
solar-powered mini-flashlight key chains and greener cell phones (recycled & less toxic

Steve Trash has been a globe-trotting kid entertainer for over 30 years, and he knows his
eco stuff. He lives in a green home in Frog Pond, Alabama that has solar Photovoltaic
collectors. He and his family recycle tons, he composts in a claw-foot bathtub, and he
travels the globe (Japan, Australia, Canada, Portugal, Spain, & the US) sharing his
knowledge of ecology and the environment with kids. Kids around the globe seem to
adore his silly sense of humor and his rockin’ green style. Through years of touring, he’s
developed a keen sense for the things kids will like and enjoy. “My wife says that I’m a
10 year old trapped in a 51 year old’s body,” says Trash, “and that may be right - but it
serves me well in getting into kids’ heads and knowing their likes and dislikes.”
That’s why he’s created this unique gift list to help gift givers everywhere make their
choices a little better for the ones they love and for the planet.
Steve Trash was voted Environmental Educator of the Year in 2011, made the “Mother
