  10. 10. Over the last 10 years since itslaunch, iPod has literally takenover the market. Basically there arenone of its competitors left. It hasbeaten them up badly, leaving themridiculed and frustrated. Its once upon a time competitorswere:•Sony•Samsung•Creative Labs•iRiver•Phillips•Microsoft Zune•Archos•e.Digital•Cowon•RCA
  11. 11. Apple iPod is mainly aimed at the young adults particularly those between the agof 12-30. The sleek and simple design of the multiplayer, available in brightamazing colors is an eye catching factor for the young generation. It appeals toboth males and females.People passionate about music or nurturing an interest in it ,music enthusiastsandpeople who love to have fun with technology aremostly the ones attracted towards it.It is targeted at the niche market creating product desirabilityespecially in the middle class and the high class.Apple’s real problem is not pricing, their iPods areNeither too cheap nor too expensive. 12. 12. One of the main factors in iPod’spopularity is its design. Its designhas nothing that can be criticizedabout. And no one can deny thatits design is simply iconic. Designmuseums around the world displayiPods proudly. Its aestheticallyappealing design and concept haswon Apples senior vice presidentof industrial design, Jonathan Ive,multiple awards and honors. The simplicity of its design speaksfor itself. There are nounnecessary wheels or buttons, theelement provided is enough for theuser to navigate between thesongs.Even its headphones arestrategically designed. Thewhite sleek designedheadphones work awesomely
  13. 13. Since their launch in 2001, Apple’s iPods have won many awardsranging from engineering excellence to the most innovative product. The iPods have also been receiving favorable reviews; scoringhighly on looks, its clean, sleek and slim design and ease of use.Several industries have been altering their product designs so thatthey can be compatible with Apple’s products. The iPods have also stepped in and earned a name as businessdevices. Organizations have turned to iPods and have started to usethem as a delivery mechanism for business communication andtraining. In the Royal and Western Infirmaries in Glasgow,Scotland, iPods are used to train the new staff. It has had now about 70% of the market share for quite a few yearsnow. The reason can be that it could store more of our music ascompared to the other players available in the market and by itsuse of FireWire it meant that more file transfer speed could beused.
