  • 3.   What is a Printer ? In computing, a printer is a peripheral which produces a representation of an electronic document on physical media such as paper or transparency film.
  • 4.  Dot Matrix  Inkjet Printer  Plotter  Laser jet Printer
  • 5.   What is a Dot Matrix Printer ? Dot matrix printing or is a type of computer printing which uses a print head that runs back and forth, or in an up and down motion, on the page and prints by impact, striking an ink-soaked cloth ribbon against the paper, much like the print mechanism on a typewriter.
  • 6.    What is an Inkjet Printer? Inkjet printers are the most commonly used type of printer, and range from small inexpensive consumer models to very large professional machines that can cost tens thousands of dollars, or more. Inkjet printing is a type of computer printing that creates a digital image by propelling droplets of ink onto paper, plastic, or other substrates.
  • 7.   What is a Plotter ? The plotter is a. computer printer for printing vector graphics. In the past, plotters were used in applications such as computeraided designs, though they have generally been replaced with wide-format conventional printers.
  • 8.  Features 1. They produce hard copy output. 2. They are used to produce drawings like architectural drawing and engineering applications in a more efficient way than printers. 3. A plotter uses pen/pens to draw images on the paper instead of dots like printer. 4. It produces smooth and sharp drawing of objects which is not possible to print using printers. 5. It is more useful for graphical/drawing outputs and less for text outputs
  • 9.  Laser printing is an electrostatic digital printing process that rapidly produces high quality text and graphics by passing a laser beam over a charged drum to define a differentially charged image.
