  2. 2. Once upon a time there was a king namedDashratha. He had 4 sons – Rama, Bharat, Laxmana and Shatrughan
  3. 3. The oldest son was called Rama.When Rama married a lovely princess called Sita,King Dushratha decided to give up the throne and let Rama take over his throne.
  4. 4. Rama’s step-mother was very jealous. She wanted the throne forher Son-Bharat. A long time before, she had saved KingDashraths life and then he had promised her to grant twowishes. She decided that it was time to claim her wishes. Sheasked Dashrath to send Rama to forest for fourteen years.Dashrath was shocked, but had to fulfil it. Thus Rama, followedby his loyal brother Lakshmana & Sita left for the forest.
  5. 5. Ravana, the Demon king with 10 heads, heard of Sita’s beautyand goodness and planned to kidnap her. By magic, he askedhis cousin to turn into a golden deer. Seeing the deer, Sita wastempted and asked Rama to catch it. When Rama did notreturn for a long time, Sita told Lakshmana to go after him.
  6. 6. Ravana, who was waiting for just this opportunity,disguised as a holy man and approached Sita for alms.When Sita stepped close, Ravana grabbed her armsand took her away!
  7. 7. Ravana, the 10 headed demon took Sita to Lankaand imprisoned her in a garden named ASHOKVATIKA and gave her a time of 12 months to decidewhether to marry Ravana or not.
  8. 8. Rama and Lakshmana searched for Sita and metbrave monkey warrior Hanuman. Hanuman and hisfriends promised Rama to help in finding Sita.
