    • The Indian Badminton League is a tournament worth US$1 Million Joint Initiative between…..
    • The IBL is approved by the Badminton World Federation & the Badminton Asia Confederation
    • IBL is based on the format followed in the Sudirman Cup • There will be 5 matches in each round  Mens & Womens Singles;  Mens, Womens & Mixed Doubles • Each team will play 18 ties of best of 5 matches
    • 2 „Quick‟ rules at the IBL • The victor will be the one who first reaches 21 points in the first 2 games and does not need a 2 point difference • If the game goes to the 3rd and decider set, it will be an 11 point match
    • IBL in Numbers US$1 Million Prize money at stake INR 1.5 Crore at the disposal of each of the 6 franchises Each franchise needs to have: 6 Indian players 4 Foreign players 1 Junior National player
    • The tournament will consist of 18 team matches across 6 cities over 18 days 14th Aug – 31st Aug 2013 Delhi. Lucknow. Mumbai. Pune. Bengaluru. Hyderabad.
    • ESPN STAR will be providing live television and digital coverage.
    • 6 city-based franchises will be participating in the IBL
    • The player auctions were held in New Delhi on 22nd July 2013
    • The auction was administered by internal auctioneer Bob Hayton He had previously conducted auctions for the Hockey India League & on behalf of the Maharaja of Jodhpur for the One World Retreat 66 players were auctioned from the 150 players who went under the hammer
    • The stars of the auction were Lee Chong Wei & Saina Nehwal

    • The Delhi franchise is owned by the Krrish Group, a Gurgaon based realtor

    • Shuttle Express to build a badminton legacy at the grass root level A school has been selected in each of the 6 franchise cities: - Genesis Global School (Delhi) - Indus World School (Hyderabad) - La Martiniere Boys (Lucknow) - Jamnabhai Narsee (Mumbai) - Symbiosis Primary (Pune) - Jain International School (Bangalore) Training programmes & coaching sessions will be conducted at each of the schools & an Intra School Badminton Tournament would be conducted with a Badminton Icon Player attending it.
    • Shuttle Express to build a badminton legacy at the grass root level City & Nation wide tournaments would be held, monitored by talent hunters including the national coaches The cream of the badminton talent will be given an opportunity to compete at the national level at the IBL The winners in the boys & girls singles will participate at the IBL National Final, with a chance of winning INR 10 lakhs in prize money & an opportunity to train at the prestigious Pullela Gopichand Academy
