Seeing things in a new light

  1. 1. Seeing things in a new light www.princeofpeace.org.au
  2. 2. 1 “Arise, Jerusalem! Let your light shine for all to see. For the glory of the LORD rises to shine on you. 2 Darkness as black as night covers all the nations of the earth, but the glory of the LORD rises and appears over you. 3 All nations will come to your light; mighty kings will come to see your radiance. Isaiah 60:1-3 (NLT)
  3. 3. 1 “Arise, Jerusalem! Let your light shine for all to see. For the glory of the LORD rises to shine on you. Isaiah 60:1 (NLT)
  4. 4. 2 Darkness as black as night covers all the nations of the earth, but the glory of the LORD rises and appears over you. Isaiah 60:2 (NLT)
  5. 5. 3 All nations will come to your light; mighty kings will come to see your radiance. Isaiah 60:3 (NLT)
  6. 6. 105 Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105 (NLT)
  7. 7. 14 So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son. John 1:14 (NLT)
  8. 8. 1 In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He existed in the beginning with God. 3 God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. 4 The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. John 1:1-4 (NLT)
  9. 9. 27 About noontime Elijah began mocking them. “You’ll have to shout louder,” he scoffed, “for surely he is a god! Perhaps he is daydreaming, or is relieving himself. Or maybe he is away on a trip, or is asleep and needs to be wakened!” 1 Kings 18:27 (NLT)
  10. 10. 38 Immediately the fire of the LORD flashed down from heaven and burned up the young bull, the wood, the stones, and the dust. It even licked up all the water in the trench! 1 Kings 18:38 (NLT)
  11. 11. 2 So Jezebel sent this message to Elijah: “May the gods strike me and even kill me if by this time tomorrow I have not killed you just as you killed them.” 1 Kings 19:2 (NLT)
  12. 12. 3 Elijah was afraid and fled for his life. 1 Kings 19:3 (NLT)
  13. 13. 11 “Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the LORD told him. And as Elijah stood there, the LORD passed by… 1 Kings 19:11 (NLT)
  14. 14. 11 …and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. 1 Kings 19:11 (NLT)
  15. 15. 12   And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper. 1 Kings 19:12 (NLT)
  16. 16. 28 “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 (NLT)
  17. 17. Lord Jesus, you have promised to carry our burdens. Yet, we have failed to believe you. Forgive us. Help us to hand our burdens, our worries, our fears, our guilt, our shame, over to you, as we now sit silently in your presence.
  18. 18. Light of the world, shine your light into the darkness of our lives, lift up and restore broken spirits. In Jesus’ name we pray.
  19. 19. Welcome to Prince of Peace to live and share the grace of God so our communities experience His transforming love and peace www.princeofpeace.org.au
