  • 4. Android is an operating system designed primarily for touchscreen mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet computers, developed by Google in conjunction with the Open Handset Alliance.   • 7. 4 Americans called Andy Rubin, Rich Miner , Chris White and Nick Sears started developing Android in 2001. They formed Android Incorporation in 2003. But this was a failure and Google decided to buy android in 2005. Google developed the original android O/S with some changes and completed it in 2007. Speculation about Google's intention to enter the mobile communications market continued to build through December 2006.   • 8. 1st commercial edition Android 1.0 was launched in 2008. HTC Dream G1 was the 1st smart phone with an android O/S. Several versions of Android have introduced since then and they were named after the name of desserts in alphabetical order.
