  • ISTITUTO COMPRENSIVO “P. S. ZIMARINO” - CASALBORDINO SCUOLA MEDIA “L. DA VINCI” - SCERNI WATER: SOURCE OF LIFE Water resembles the soul of man Descends from the sky, back to heaven Then again, it is force that falls upon the earth , (Vincenzo Errante) In another series of eternal story ...
  • Water is a precious element which covers about the 3/4 of the earth’s surface. Without water there wouldn’t be any form of life on the earth. WHAT IS WATER?
  • WATER ORIGIN The water on the earth probably originated after the very numerous and intense volcanic eruptions which took place on the earth’s surface for about 3 milliard years.
  • Water is a compound of hydrogen and oxigen and it has chemical formula H 2 O WATER COMPOSITION
  • WATER’S CLASSIFICATION There are several kinds of waters on the earth: Superficial Drinkable Mineral Thermal
  • WATER CYCLE It consists of a continous movement of water from atmosphere to soil and from ground to atmosphere.
  • They are natural flous of water which gush out from the ground in a single point and are fed by a vein flowing in non visible underground ways. THE SPRINGS
  • They are watercourses with perennial flow fed by springs, atmospheric precipitations and by the waters from meltin of snow and glaciers. THE RIVERS
  • THE GLACIER IS USUALLY COMPARED TO A RIVER FLOWING BY GRAVITY FORCE FROM THE HIGHEST MOUNTAIN DOWNWARDS AD PROVIDING WATER TO VALLEYS AND FEEDING RIVERS. THE GLACIERS
  • WATER CONSUMPTION Beginning from the 60s the water consumption remarkably increased, so much to become a real problem for the future generations.
  • With the extraordinary increase of the industrial production and of the consuptions, it was determinated a deep alteration of the surround environment. Among the most evident injuries caused by man to habitat, there is the water pollution . WATER POLLUTION
  • KINDS OF WATER POLLUTION
    • THERE ARE SEVERAL KINDS OF WATER POLLUTION:
    • Natural
    • Domestic
    • Agricultural
    • Industrial
  • PETROLEUM PARASITICIDES PESTICIDES FERTILIZERS WASTE NATURAL WATER POLLUTION DEATH OF FISH AND SEA-BIRDS LOSSES IN TOURISM AND ECONOMY HEALTH DAMAGES WATER BEDS POLLUTION EUTROPHICATION OF LAKES AND SEAS INDUSTRIAL AND HOUSEHOLD WASTE
  • During floods, river waters carry several materials, among which there is also organic material that undergoes processes of putrefaction and fermentation. NATURAL WATER POLLUTION
  • HOUSEHOLD WATER POLLUTION Population increase and a greater welfare bring about increasing in:
    • consumptions and
    • sewer-discharge,
    • foams due to non
    • biodegradable detergents,
    • plastic materials consumptions .
  • AGRICULTURAL WATER POLLUTION
          • It is caused by the products used for lands and plants, whose refuses are carried by backwaters and dived into rivers and canals.
  • INDUSTRIAL WATER POLLUTION Most of the factories produce organic waste which give rise to fungi and bacteria. One million tons of waste are discharged into our seas. 70% come from industrial waste.
  • PERSONAL REMARKS
    • HOW CAN I PROTECT WATER ?
    • I SHOULDN’T LEAVE USELESSLY THE TAP RUNNING;
    • I SHOULDN’T WASTE WATER IN GAMES OR TRICKS ;
    • I SHOULDN’T THROW RUBBISH, PAPER, PLASTIC BAGS IN THE WATER IN ORDER TO AVOID TO POLLUTE IT, BECAUSE POLLUTED WATER CANNOT BE USED ;
    • I SHOULD INFORM THE OTHERS AND GET INFORMATION ABOUT ALL THE POSSIBLE WAYS TO PROTECT WATER .
