  2. 2. The Slovak NationalUprising  <br />wasanarmed insurrection<br />organized by the Slovak resistance<br />movementduring WorldWar II<br />againstGermanWehrmacht. Itwas<br />launched on August 29 1944 <br />from Banská Bystrica . <br />

The rebel Slovak partisan forcesconsisted 60,000 soldiers, plus 18,000 partisansfrom over 30 countries, likeRussia, Poland, Czech, France, Bulgaria, etc, The Slovak forcesweredefeated by NaziGermany on October 28 1944 and, guerrillawarfarecontinueduntilthe Soviet Armyoccupied Slovakia in 1945.<br />
  4. 4. Thefamousmemorialplaceisthe Monument of Slovak NationalUprising in Banská Bystrica, wherethecelebrationstakeplaceevery August.<br />
  5. 5. Thisfeastisduringthesummerholiday and Slovak peoplecelebrateitindividually in eachtown or village. Weputbunchesofflowers on memorialplaces to remembersoldiersfallen in theuprising.<br />
  6. 6. Thatdaycelebrations are takenplace in townsquareswhere folk groupsdance and sing.<br />
  7. 7. Productsofoldtraditionalcrafts are shown and soldthereandpeoplecanbuydrinksandfood.<br />
  8. 8. Oneofthetraditionsismaking big campfires in allvillages and towns. Peoplesitaround, playtheguitars and singsongs.<br />
