  2. 2. There are three sectors in our economy. All jobs belong to one of three sectors.
  3. 3. Primary sector It includes people that obtain raw materials from nature for other industries. The main activities are: animal farming, crop farming, fishing and mining.
  4. 4. Secondary sector It includes people that transform raw into elaborated products. The main activities are industry and construction.
  5. 5. Tertiary sector or services It includes people that provide services to others. The main activities are shops, tourism, banking, education, administration, entertainment and health.

  7. 7. From Prehistory until the late 19 th century, most people were employed in the primary sector .The secondary sector and the tertiary sector grew throughout the 20 th century as the primary sector decreased. Nowadays , the tertiary or services sector employs most of the active in Spain. The distribution of economic sectors in our country is:
  8. 8. It only 5% (per cent or out of every hundred people) of people work in this sector. Mainly in some communities like Extremadura , Andalucía , Castilla -La Mancha , Catilla-León , Galicia and Murcia. Primary sector
  9. 9. Secondary sector It about 30% work in this sector. In Madrid , Pais Vasco , Cataluña , Navarra , Aragón and Valencia.
  10. 10. Tertiary sector It about 65% work in the services sector. In Canaries , the Baleares , Ceuta , Melilla , Madrid and Andalucía.
