Oaxaca lays claim to one of Mexico’s richestcelebrations: Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos).

Day of the Dead is an annual celebration that manifests a richblend of Catholic and indigenous traditions.

On November 1-2 spirits of thebeloved dead return to visit with families and friends.

Visitors have no better proof that one has !made a journey than by taking a photo. !But when is taking a picture offensive !to others? If you want to do things right, askpermission. Put yourself in the shoes (or sandals) ofthose you are visiting. Would you want strangers totake your photo without your consent?!Bonus points if you take photos that locals request –this is one way of practicing the Platinum Rule:treating others the way they wish to be treated!!Do the right thing. If you take portraits, give them aprint copy or email the photo.
