  • 1. School. Different.
  • 2. Who are the students you want leaving your classroom every day?
  • 3. What do you hope they know how to do with what they've learned?
  • 4. What do you hope they care about?
  • 5. "I now have almost totally lost the ability to read and absorb a longish article on the web or in print,"
  • 6. Thanks to the ubiquity of text on the Internet, not to mention the popularity of text-messaging on cell phones, we may well be reading more today than we did in the 1970s or 1980s, when television was our medium of choice.

  • 8. First Departure
  • 9. Second Departure
  • 10. Do kids learn to think by reading great literature, doing difficult math and learning history, philosophy and science? Or can they tackle those subjects on their own if schools simply teach them to problem-solve, communicate, use technology and think creatively?
  • 11. Should Dance, Art, and Music be given equal footing with Math, Science, Languages, and History?
  • 12. Divergent Thinking
  • 13. What Does it Mean to Be Well-Educated in Today’s World?
