    1. Role-Play Assessment Student: Natasha Liao
    2. Overview of the lesson
      • Topic: Grocery Shopping!!
      • Students’ age: Elementary school / 6th grade
      • Class size: 10 students
      • Language group: international students (immigrant)
      • Focus on: Listening and Speaking

    4. Beginning
      • Lesson:  
      •  
      •   Teacher provides basic vocabularies of grocery shopping items. Because of the beginning level, the vocabularies will come with item pictures.  Teacher models the role play of what people usually when they do grocery shopping.  
    5.    Role play
      •   Have students to draw a simple map of grocery store.  Ask students their ideas of what they can buy from the grocery store, and draw the items.  Demonstrate the role play by using the pictures and map.  Teacher will model the role play, and drill the vocabularies and phrases of the conversation.  
      • assessing:
      • 1.      Name the grocery objects
      • 2.      Repeat words and phrases
    6.             Intermediate
      • Lesson:
      • In intermediate level, students are required to do comparison of items.   In the role play, each of students has $60 to spend in the grocery store.  Students need to list items they want to buy, and compare the prices of items with different brands in order to buy all stuff they want within $60.  P.S each of them needs to buy at least 5 different things.
    7. Example: Assessment: students need to tell what their decisions are, why they decide to buy that brand of products, and how much money they spend.
    8. Advnced
      • Students already have certain amount of vocabulary words of grocery shopping.  Have students to create commercials for their products.  They can choose any kind of items they want to promote other people to buy.  It would be a competition.  Each of them needs to talk about at least 3 departments in grocery store within 30 seconds.
