    • 2. Size The U.S. is 9,631,418 sq km. About 2.5 times larger than Western Europe. The population is around 312 million people.
    • 3. Independence Day The U.S. won it’s independence on July 4th, 1776 from Britain. We celebrate this day with parades, BBQs, and fireworks.
    • 4. National Anthem Our national anthem is “The Star Spangled Banner” It was written by Francis Scott Key. Lyrics:  Oh, say can you see by the QuickTime™ and a dawns early light decompressor are needed to see this picture.  What so proudly we hailed at the twilights last gleaming?  Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,  Oer the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?  And the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air,  Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.

    • 6. Presidents The 1st president was George Washington. His face is on the one dollar bill and the quarter. The 44th president is Barack Obama. He is the first African-American president.
