Team Overview.We are a group of four master students, who are environmental conservation enthusiasts want to contribute our master education into a social beneficial project especially on shark protection. As an art director, Richard will focus on project and installation style especially for the branding and the communication. Richard will also be looking at the visuals and graphic design of SOS installation. Plato will focus on the physical outlook design of the installation and explore the feasibility of interactive activities. Plato has experience in controlling sound effect through PureData and communicates it with Processing and will apply his knowledge in connecting reactive table. Tommy will make use of existing new technologies to solve the back end need and also the programming part. Tommy will connect the Arduino and Processing with the communication of installation.
Here we explain the current shark issue: More awareness has been raised about shark distinction. This quote comes from bbc. We see a problem in the society and there is a problem that we are able to tackle. Even though there so many NGO who tackle this problem. But we believe our idea using technology and new media, can market a younger mindset with a much more interesting creative approach.(So here we also mention about its opportunity. Maybe here we can use the ideas from the SWAT. )// In the latest BBC news “Shark kills number 100 million annually” states the scientists estimate a mortality range of between 63 and 273 million sharks in 2010. Our team SOS aims to build an interactive installation that focus on shark protection to reduce the massive harvest of sharks and maintain a sustainable marine system.
What we will be creatingOur target audience and why.As hongkong deals mostly with shark fin product, so the opportunity size to get demand is better. Because approximately 75% of sharks are killed for fins and 80% of shark fins are sold to Hong Kong, SOS will be created and built in Hong Kong to reduce the total consumption of shark fin product in Hong Kong by rising up the awareness from young couples from age 25 to 35, who have stable jobs and are considering marriage to spread the idea of anti-fin wedding banquet. By controlling the shark fin demand in Hong Kong, the total amount of sharks be harvested will decline.

Our next campaign strategy:SOS will create a new campaign using ‘Love’ to save the ocean andprotect the Sharks. Besides we will be creating a ‘Pre Campaign’ to promote our installation. There will loads of marketing and communication design work. We will keep looking for further third party supports.
