The monetization strategies we currently implement are: F2P is one of a variety of monetization strategies being utilised by leading developers; however, 74% of all developers surveyed adopt a F2P model on at least one game produced. 67% of video games executives believe that F2P will become the dominant game monetization business model in the next five years, with only 8% disagreeing. F2P games generate on average around $2-3 per user; however, a significant proportion of game developers – 37.6% – see lower monetization per user. Only 16.8% receive more than the $3 average revenue per user. The landscape of games monetization has changed dramatically in the last three years. Free-2-Play (F2P) has become the single biggest business disruptor within the video games industry. Average Revenue Per User across F2P is around $2-3.
