    • Multiplication Steps Step 1: Multiply the ones. 4 x 9 = 36 ones. Regroup the 36 ones as 3 tens and 6 ones. Step 2: Multiply the tens. 4 x 5 tens = 20 tens. Add the regrouped tens. 20 tens + 3 tens = 23 tens. Regroup the 24 tens as 2 hundreds and 4 tens. H T O 3 5 9 x 4 2 3 6
    • 42 x 7 Step 1: Multiply the ones. 7 x 2 = 14 ones. Regroup the 14 ones as 1 tens and 4 ones. Step 2: Multiply the tens. 7 x 4 tens = 28 tens. Add the regrouped tens. 28 tens + 1 ten = 29 tens. Regroup the 29 tens as 2 hundreds and 9 tens. H T O 1 4 2 x 7 2 9 4
