    • Born In Portland, Maine in 1947.
    • First professional short story published in 1967 called “The Glass Floor”.
    • Has three kids, three grandchildren, and an older brother named David
    • Parents are Donald and Nellie Ruth Pillsbury King
    • Graduated from The University of Maine at Orono with a B.A in English
    • Taught high school English for 2 years until selling a novel called “Carrie” to Doubleday and Co., which gave him enough money to quit teaching and focus on his writing.
    • He is 6’4” and weighs about 200 pounds.
    • He has published over 40 books
  • 3. Plot
    • The Camber’s St. Bernard becomes a killer after being bitten by a rabid bat.
    • Donna Trenton’s husband is out of town attempting to contain a disastrous ad campaign.
    • She has an affair with a local handyman after feeling abandoned by her husband
    • She takes her Pinto, a car, to Joe Cambers’ garage for repairs with her son
    • They get trapped by the St. Bernard inside their sweltering car
  • 4. Who Challenged The Book and Why
    • This Book was Banned by Washington County, Alabama’s Board of Education in 1985
    • Challenged by Rankin County, Mississippi’s school district in 1984
    • Removed from Bradford, New York’s school library in 1985
    • Rejected for purchase by Hayward, California's school trustees in 1985
    • It was challenged for profanity and strong sexual content
  • 5. My Reaction
    • The school districts that challenged and banned this book are missing out. This books seems like a good book to read and since we are in high school we should be able to handle the profanity and the sexual contact
