The students will acquire a general understanding of the tourism industry as well as what Singapore has to offer as a destination to tourism hub.
WHAT WILL I DISCOVER? You will be able to understand the complexity and integration of the various key sectors of the tourism industry and appreciate the major developments in the tourism scene of Singapore.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
You will actively learn through workshops and going on field trips for more hands-on learning.
You will engage in simple research for group assignments and make presentations of project findings.
You will write a personal reflective journal of your discovery of the tourism industry.
WHERE WILL I PICK UP ALL THE EXCITING SKILLS? Workshops conducted by polytechnic lecturers and industry guest speakers will be held at Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s campus. Organized field trips to local attractions an/or tourism industry .
HOW WILL I BENEFIT FROM THIS MODULE?
You will gain a broad overview of the tourism industry and be introduced to unconventional/special tourism topics such as dark tourism.
You will have an opportunity to explore tourism attractions in Singapore and understand the profile of the inbound tourists to Singapore.
This module covers areas such as:
Casino and Gaming
Total duration of course: 40 hours
This course will be conducted over 3 days of training.
This is followed by a break and 2 days of field work and report presentation.
