Chapter 12

  1. 1.  The focus in changing the behavior and maintaining order. Teacher should focus in positive enforcement and modeling good behavior. There is a high level of teacher control in the classroom.
  2. 2.  Reinforce positive behavior with  Classroom bucks  Stickers  Verbal praise Model good behavior  Show students how they are supposed to behave  Always present good behavior
  3. 3.  Do not reinforce negative behavior › Ignore bad behavior › Take away positive reinforcements like stickers
  4. 4.  Classroom management plan developed by Lee and Canter. There is a high level of teacher control in the classroom. Teacher takes control of the class in a positive but firm manner. The goal of this classroom management plan is to engage students in the learning process without interruptions.
  5. 5.  I will not tolerate any student stopping me from teaching. I will not tolerate any student stopping any other students from learning. I will not tolerate any students engaging in any behavior that is not in the student’s best interest
  6. 6.  Non-Assertive: This type of teacher does not correct students when they are misbehaving. This type of teacher has no control of her classroom. He/she might yell, but students do not respond by showing the best behavior.
  7. 7.  Assertive: This teacher believes he/she has the right to teach. This type of teacher expects students to behave and engage in the learning process. This type of teacher implements a firm behavior plan and students follow it.
  8. 8.  Hostile: This teacher does not have a fair, and firm discipline plan. This type of teacher often uses sarcasm with student. This type of teacher does not believe his students can follow a firm, and positive behavior plan.
  9. 9.  While watching the video, name some differences between a non-assertive and an assertive teacher.
