    • GE 117 Composition I Week 7 Writing Assignment<br />Directions: Choose ONE of the writing prompts suggested below (or from your textbook) or come up with one of your own to write an Illustration essay. Include a Thesis Statement in your Introduction paragraph. Use a minimum of three examples or pieces of evidence (three paragraphs) in the body. Close with a Conclusion paragraph. Remember to use details and to appeal to people’s five senses whenever possible.<br />Option A: Non-technical topics<br />See page 261 in your textbook for a list of suggested topics.<br />OR<br />Option B: Technical Topics<br />Describe the journey of an email from sender to receiver. <br />2. Describe the layout of a typical networked PC Workstation.<br />3. Describe security procedures and protocols for modern PC users.<br />4. Describe what the Internet would look like if mapped.<br />5. Describe what the insides of a computer look like and are for.<br />6. Describe the graphical user interface/visual aspects of a particular piece of software.<br />7. Describe the applications of new or unique software/hardware/technologies.<br />8. Describe a “typical day” of a professional in your area of study or intended career.<br />9. Describe an outdated or obsolete technology, plus its flaws and/or limitations.<br />10.
