  • For all PSTN/PBX call setups arriving at the gateway, the gateway sends SIP INVITE messagesto the Active Directory Call Routing program (an AudioCodes standalone SIP redirector programthat can be installed, for example, on the hybrid gateway). This triggers a lookup query inMicrosoft’s AD database upon the incoming DID. The AD replies with the user’s office phonenumber and user-defined, alternative destination number (for example, the user’s mobilenumber). In the AD, each user is marked for either OCS 2007 enterprise voice or for no OCS2007 enterprise voice. Upon reply from the AD, the Active Directory Call Routing programresponds with a SIP “302 moved temporarily” message with two SIP Contact headers to thegateway. The first Contact header includes either the user’s phone number in the MediationServer domain (if the user is enabled for OCS 2007 enterprise voice) or the user’s phone numberin a user-defined domain (if the user implements a PBX/IP-PBX phone). The second Contactheader contains the user’s user-defined, alternative destination number in a user-defined domain. The Mediation Server, PBX/IP-PBX phone and alternative destination number domains must beconfigured in the Active Directory Call Routing program’s LDAP configuration file. The gateway attempts to route the call to the first contact (Mediation Server or phone number anddomain). If the call fails, it routes the call to this alternative destination number and domain.
  • The next set of slides targets the large, mission critical networks that are required to support redundancy and survivability. Utilizing a unique combination of two features: IP-to-IP Sip routing and PSTN fallback, AudioCodes can provide and fault proof network design, which creates a network with no single point of failure. This is well documented on an application note available on our web site.

    20. 20. PSTN Fallback The device containing digital modules (BRI,PRI) can provide a “lifeline” telephone link. In the event of a power failure, a relay connects trunk 1 to 2, and/or 3 to 4 in the same module. The link is provided by the closing of a metallic switch inside the module so that the trunk from the PBX is switched from the module to the PSTN. “One-Stop-Shop” Vendor for Microsoft Unified Communications

Active Directory Support Office Communications Ben John Server / Lync Server PSTN Active LDAP Directory OC / Lync John John Enables phased and easy migration from TDM to UC Call routing based on Active Directory information (to TDM PBX, OCS /Lync Server, or alternative mobile phone numbers) Enabling redundancy in case of any subsystem failure (routing the call to alternative numbers) “One-Stop-Shop” Vendor for Microsoft Unified Communications
    22. 22. Active Directory Capabilities The MGW supports Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), allowing the device to make call routing decisions based on information stored on LDAP server (or Microsoft‟s Active Directory-based enterprise directory server). Enables the usage of one common, popular database to manage and maintain information regarding user‟s availability, presence, and location. Based on queries sent to the AD, this feature allows you to route incoming calls to one of the following IP domains: PBX/IP-PBX (for users yet to migrate to the Lync) Lync clients Mobile “One-Stop-Shop” Vendor for Microsoft Unified Communications
