  • Handset Manager Installation Instruction for Android Date: Sep.28, 2009 Android Handset Manager is the first PC Sync Tool in Android Market. With Android Handset Manager, you will be able to edit/backup your contacts on PC. You can also sync your contacts and calendar between Outlook and your Android phone. What's more, Android Handset Manager lets you edit SMS on PC and send it directly via your Android phone. On top of all these feature, Android Handset Manager can help you to transfer files between PC and your Android phone. 1. System Requirements 2. Download and Install Android USB Driver 3. Enable the Debugging Mode of Android Dev. Phone 4. Install Handset Manager for Android Sync Agent 5. Connect Android Phone with Handset Manager 6. Get started with Handset Manager 1. System Requirements ● Android OS 1.5 with ARM processor ● Windows XP / Vista (Windows 64-bit is NOT supported) 2. Download and Install Android USB Driver 2-1 Download Android USB Driver
  • (1) Go to : http://developer.android.com/index.html , and click SDK page tab. (2) From the option list shown on the left panel, select Download, and download the Android SDK package for Windows platform – download android-sdk-windows-xxx.zip, and decompress the package file. Note: Please make sure that you download the correct version of Android SDK with your Android phone OS version. 2-2 Install Android USB Driver (1) Connect Android Dev Phone to the USB Port of your PC, and the system will detect a new hardware connected. (2) In the ''Found New Hardware'' dialog, select Locate and install driver software (recommended) option to proceed.
  • (3) Select Browse my computer for driver software to locate a driver from your computer. When prompted to insert a disc, click the option ''I don't have the disc. Show me other options'' to continue. (4) Specify the location where the Android USB Driver downloaded earlier is, and click Next to start installing the driver. View slide
  • (5) Finally, the driver software has now been installed for HTC Dream Composite ADB Interface. 3. Enable the Debugging Mode of Android Dev Phone (1) Press Menu, and go to: Settings > Applications. View slide
  • (2) In Application page, go to: Settings > Development, and select USB debugging to enable the debug mode. Return to Home page if needed. 4. Install Handset Manager for Android Sync Agent
  • (1) First of All, please download the Alpha 2 version of Handset Manager for Android at the following link and decompress it to your computer: http://ds.mobileaction.com/temp/Handset_Manager_for_Android_alpha2_20090924.zip (2) For android 1.5 SDK r3 Copy two files (adb.exe and AdbWinApi.dll) from android-sdk-windows-1.5-r3tools to the folder of Handset Manager (HM for Android). For android 1.6 SDK r1 Copy two files (adb.exe and AdbWinApi.dll) from android-sdk-windows-1.6-r1tools to the folder of Handset Manager (HM for Android).
  • (3) Connect Android Dev Phone to the USB Port of PC. (4) Double-click InstallAgent.bat to install the Agent.
  • A reply of "Success" will appear to indicate the complete installation of the Agent. Press any key to close the window as advised. (4) After the installation of the Agent, remove the USB connection, wait 3 seconds, and plug the USB cable back in Android phone again. The HM Sync Agent will then start up automatically. You are now ready to use Handset Manager for Android.
  • 5. Connect Android phone with Handset Manager (1) Please connect Android Dev Phone to the USB port of PC. (2) Go to "HM for Android" folder, and double-click PanelExe.exe to start the Handset Manager program. (3) When the connection icon goes from ''ongoing'' to ''Green'' in the main screen of Handset Manager, it means the connection with Android phone has been established, and you're now ready to user Handset Manager.
  • 6. Get started with Handset Manager (1) Click Contacts to manage (upload/ download/ edit, etc.) the contacts in your phone.
  • (2) Click Message to manage the text messages in your phone. Download/backup the SMS from the phone to PC, or send out SMS via Handset Manager. (3) Click File Manager to manage various files saved in your phone/ memory card. Download files from the phone to PC, or upload file to the phone/ memory card.
  • (4) Click Sync Manager if you would like to synchronize Contacts info/ Calendar events with Outlook/ Outlook Express. For more information about Handset Manager, please visit www.mobileaction.com .
