    1. Intelligent Devices, Inc.
      • World leader in NTCIP technology
      • Provider of NTCIP central software and parking guidance system
      Intelligent Devices, Inc.
    2. What is NTCIP? NATIONAL TRANSPORTATION COMMUNICATIONS for ITS PROTOCOL A communications protocol is a set of rules for how messages and data elements are coded and transmitted between electronic devices. The equipment at each end of a data transmission must use the same protocol to successfully communicate. NTCIP is a family of communication standards for transmitting data and messages between computer control devices used in Intelligent Transportation Systems.
    3. NTCIP History
      • NTCIP is a joint standardization project started in the early 90’s by AASHTO, ITE and NEMA, with funding from the FHWA, to develop and promote a standard communication protocol for the Intelligent Transportation Industry.
      • It has today been adopted in every state of the USA and increasingly in other parts of the world, Europe, China, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Dubai, Greece, Turkey, South America and many more...
    4. Benefits of NTCIP
      • Interchangeability of different manufacturer traffic devices
      • Integration of systems and jurisdictions
      • Allows a standards based approach to Central System procurement.
      • Allows phased introduction of Central System
      • Intelligent Parking simplifies the way parking works.
      • It assists your customers by giving them the correct information when trying to find a parking spot.
      • The near 100% accuracy erases inefficiencies in the counting process by monitoring every bay allowing every space to be utilized.
      What is Intelligent Parking?
      • Provides information to motorists each time they have to make a decision in order to guide them to the correct lot, the correct floor, and finally to an open bay.
      How Does It Work?
      • Parking can begin a long way from the parking facility
        • Internet or PDA
        • Municipal or DOT DMS/VMS Signs
        • NTCIP Requirement
          • Integration to any Manufacturer
      Inform
      • Information at the entrance of the parking facility
        • Informs drivers of the parking conditions in each parking garage
      Direct
      • Signs display real-time data at every decision point
      • Signs inside the facilities indicate to which level drivers should proceed
      Guide
    5. Show
      • Zone boards show aisle availability to keep traffic flowing through the garage
      Show
      • Using individual bay sensors the motorist can easily navigate to an open bay
        • Green – Vacant
        • Red – Occupied
        • Blue – Handicapped
        • Amber – Reserved
      Assist
    6. Manage
      • Software works with the network of individual sensors allowing access to the system through a single control center
      • System shows availability for the entire parking facility
      Manage
    7. Manage Manage
      • Increased customer satisfaction by helping them find a parking space with minimum effort in the shortest time possible – on average customers find a space 50% faster.
      • Better flow of traffic and reduced congestion due to fewer vehicles circling for parking. This results in a significant reduction in CO 2 emissions – an estimated 20% of congestion is caused by drivers searching for parking.
      Benefits
      • Greater utilization of parking availability can increase parking revenue by as much as 15% depending on facility - published statistics show that on average 10-15% of the parking spaces in garages are not used.
      • Less frustrated customers have more time to spend in retail outlets (restaurants, shopping, etc) – a study in a large California shopping center reported a 2-5% increase in retail sales.
      Benefits
      • Thank You!
