    Hi Andy,

Loved your presentation! I think it redresses the balance between interviewee and interviewer, reminding propsective jobseekers that they are assessing the company as much as the company is assessing them.

Sally, I’m glad you liked the slides. Part of my style and what I think people respond to so well, both in my presentations and my book, is to use actual words and dialogue that we use in our conversations and our speech. When I have a bullet that reads 'Can this guy do the job?', that’s how people think and talk.

I’ve been very aware of gender pronouns both in my presentations and in my book, because of course not everyone looking for a job, and not every hiring manager, is male. I just did a count on my slides and there were four with male-specific words and two with female-specific. That’s one off from 50-50. I think that’s a pretty good balance.

Great presentation. One thought....could you make it more unisex using wording other than 'Can this guy do the job?' and such?

There were plenty of things I had to leave out to fit this into 45 minutes, and certainly a thank you note is one of them. My goal for this talk was to cover the interview process itself, because so few candidates seem to understand the process, and what the hiring manager is looking to find out.

I discuss thank you notes and the rest of the process more fully in my book Land The Tech Job You Love. http://www.pragprog.com/titles/algh/land-the-tech-job-you...

Here’s a video about the book, too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0RTJL-O1E0
