Effective Job Interviewing From Both Sides of the DeskSally, I’m glad you liked the slides. Part of my style and what I think people respond to so well, both in my presentations and my book, is to use actual words and dialogue that we use in our conversations and our speech. When I have a bullet that reads "Can this guy do the job?", that’s how people think and talk.
I’ve been very aware of gender pronouns both in my presentations and in my book, because of course not everyone looking for a job, and not every hiring manager, is male. I just did a count on my slides and there were four with male-specific words and two with female-specific. That’s one off from 50-50. I think that’s a pretty good balance.3 months ago

Effective Job Interviewing From Both Sides of the DeskThere were plenty of things I had to leave out to fit this into 45 minutes, and certainly a thank you note is one of them. My goal for this talk was to cover the interview process itself, because so few candidates seem to understand the process, and what the hiring manager is looking to find out.
I discuss thank you notes and the rest of the process more fully in my book Land The Tech Job You Love. http://www.pragprog.com/titles/algh/land-the-tech-job-you...
Here’s a video about the book, too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0RTJL-O1E03 months ago
