PDHPE<br />WHYIS PDHPE IMPORTANT?<br />PDHPE encourages, develops and instils an active lifestyle, promoting healthy growth and development, wellbeing, communicative skills and valuing the self and others. <br />PDHPE integrates <br />physical, <br />Intellectual and <br />Social learning.<br />

Students learn the value of healthy food choices and recognise the consequences of a poor diet and a sedentary lifestyle.<br />Understanding bodies, the similarities and differences, the needs of and how what goes in, (drugs, medication, diseases) affects how the body performs and reacts.<br />
  4. 4. PDHPE is not primarily a physical or ‘sports’ education, but rather focuses on the students development as a whole. This subject invests in every aspect of the student – recognising physical, social and emotional growth. Students are able to develop problem solving skills, communicate more effectively and negotiate the needs of others with their own; encouraging empathy, resiliency and the acceptance of diversity and difference.<br />
  5. 5. PDHPE fosters inclusiveness and diversity; supporting cultural and social awareness.<br />The PDHPE classroom encourages<br />“GAMESENSE”, student-centred learning, valuing personal knowledge and inspiring self-motivated learning. All lessons are inclusive, regardless of ability.<br />
