Whatisit?<br />April 25th KarateTournamentisaneventorganizedby Clube de Karaté da Maia since 2001, withthepurposeofpromotingcompetitionamongyoungstudent (under 13), as well as promotingkarate as anall ages sport.<br />Nowadaysitisconsidered as oneofthebestnationalprivatetournaments, havinginpreviouseditionsanyearly total ofover 1200 athletesregistrations, whichgaveit a placeinthetop biggestkarateeventsinEurope. <br />EachyearthebestPortugueseathletesregister, as well as PortugueseNational Teamandseveralteamsfromothercountries (i.e.: Spain, France, Marroco, Holland, SouthAfrica).<br />About3000 peopleattendtheevent, amongfamily, friendsandsportsfans.<br />ThisisalsooneofthefewKarateeventsin Portugal withTV coverage, with a 20’’ interview.<br />Note: April 25th isPortuguesenationalfreedomholiday.<br />

Winnersparticipatein a all-style final.<br />(*) the cadete categories are reserved for national & regional champions, orwithgood curricula. Registrationinthesecategories are thereforesubject to validation.<br />(**) thechampionsoflowerandhigherweightmeetin a Open FinalwithPrize Money!<br />
  43. 43. 2010:Rules<br />Therules are thoseof WKF, both for KataandKumite, apartfromtheexceptionsbelow.<br />Thekatas for Kids are thoseofthelistby FNKP (PortugueseNationalFederation).<br />Instedofthe WKF eliminationsystem , eachkidhas to do 2 Katas, judgedbypointsscore (insteadofflags). <br />WinnersofKata (kids) ofeachStylemustperform na extra Kata for the “AllStyle Final”, alsoevaluatedbypointsscore.<br />NOTE: ShiteiKatamustbethoseoftherelatedstyles, SaifaandSeipaifromGoju, JionandKanku Dai fromShoto, andsoon, and are evaluated as Tokui.<br />
  44. 44. 2010:Important Dates<br />March 1th – Registration website available<br />April 4th – Limit date for registration<br />April 5th – Publicly published on website ALL admitted registrations<br />April 8th – Limit date for alterations or claims<br />April 9th – Drawings held by Organizing Committee and made public on website<br /> Made public competition sheets<br /> Made public detailed schedule<br />April 14th – Limit date for claims related to drawing<br />April 15th – Made public FINAL competition sheets<br />Notes:<br /><ul><li> Coaches MUST print competition sheets, as the organization will not distribute any.

Claims related to registration and drawing during the event will not be accepted.</li></li></ul><li>2010:Registration<br />Registration MUST bemadethrough CKM website.<br />InKataeach club can register 3 athletes per category.<br />InKumiteeach club can register 3 athletes per category.<br />RegistrationFeeisof2€perAthleteandCoach.<br />Mustbepayedinadvance, otherwiseisnotaccepted for drawings.<br />OnlyoneCoachallowedpereach 10 athletes.<br />Eachcompetitorcanonlyparticipateinonecategory.<br />Categories take in consideration the athlete age at the time of the event.<br />Athletes must have, during the event, an official document with photo (only National ID’s, passports and drivers license are allowed as long as they have photos and birth date).<br />Only if necessary, organization will conduct weight tests to kumite competitors.<br />Athletes must have proper sports insurance, as it’s the ones that covers any incident during the event. Organization will not be responsible for any injury or health incident that occurs.<br />
  46. 46. 2010:Prize Money<br />The Senior Kumite category has a Prize Money which is disputed between the winners of lower and higher weights.<br />Over 18 Male OPEN<br />1st place: 250€<br />2nd place: 100€<br />Over 18 Female OPEN<br />1st place: 150€<br />2nd place: 100€<br />
